If you are part of the arts scene in Portland, chances are you already do know Ana – you’ve seen her at a show, worked alongside her at an arts non-profit, or have read her in-depth articles on OMN. A quick glance at some of her most popular pieces, gives away her penchant for British Alternative bands from the ‘80s with interviews and profiles of some of the best from that era including: Billy Bragg, The Psychedelic Furs, Joy Division and Robyn Hitchcock to name a few.

During the ’80s and ’90s, Ammann had aspirations of becoming a Senator and held the distinction of being the youngest female president of a Chamber of Commerce in California, voted Bay Area BPW (Business & Professional Women) Woman of the Year, and served as a city planning commissioner – all while completing her degree in Legal Studies from the University of California, Berkeley, and then later while maintaining a full-time career in high tech.

When she moved to Portland in the late ’90s, she traded her desire to make a difference in the world through politics, to revisiting her passion for music and the arts by making a difference to women in the creative fields. Ammann was instrumental in launching Portland’s very first Rock & Roll Camp for Girls and currently serves on the Executive Board of the Siren Nation Women’s Arts Festival and Advisory Board of Portland Oregon Women’s Film Festival (POW Fest); she organizes Portland’s annual SWAN Day celebration (Support Women Artist’s Now), and has been a supporter/speaker at ROCKRGRL Music Conferences. Stories about local female artists are another niche for Ammann’s OMN contributions having written about Lilith Fair, Stephanie Schneiderman, Laura Veirs, Lovers and Corin Tucker.

Starting immediately, Ammann will be contributing to OMN in a new way. Bringing her 20+ years of experience working with both new and established organizations in the areas of organizational development, community relations, marketing, technology development, team building and leadership, she is eager to take OMN to the next level as Publisher. Ammann envisions growing OMN’s presence in the music community, increasing readership, establishing a “future proof” business infrastructure which includes planning for how our audiences will interact with oregonmusicnews.com through new technologies, while never losing sight of the reason why people come to OMN, our core strength – the stories.

OMN is THE source of information on all things related to music in Portland and throughout Oregon and Ana wants to hear from you if you have ideas on how we can best serve up your music news.

Send her an email at ana@oregonmusicnews.com, and be sure to say hello if you see her out and about at a show!
