Portland’s Misti Krewe of Nimbus: Second annual Mardi Gras ball, bigger and funkier

Last year, the newly-minted Portland Mardi Gras krewe known as The Misti Krewe of Nimbus held it’s first Mardi Gras Ball at the Norse Hall. It was a sold-out success. Music, costumes, food and that special New Orleans feeling filled the room.

This year, the room is bigger. The ball will be held on February 18th, at the Bossanova Ballroom, doors open at 7pm, 21+, $25 (plus fees) in advance, $30 day of show, tickets.

The music will be by Too Loose Cajun BandAtomic GumboTranscendental Brass Band and Philly’s Phunkestra. The food again this year is from the Swamp Shack.

This year’s theme is “They All Ask’d for You (Audubon Zoo),” the famed Meters tune. Listen to it below but first:

Here’s their tentative schedule:

7:30 Eat & greet

7:45 2nd Line procession led by Transcendental Brass Band.  Jane-Clair will emcee

8:15 Atomic Gumbo; set finale “Audubon Zoo-They All Ask’d for You”

9:15 Presentation of 2012 King & Queen; Promenade & Shoebox Parade

9:35 Too Loose Cajun/Zydeco Band

10:45 Costume contest (King & Queen will vote)

11:10 – 12:30 Philly’s Phunkestra “You Are My Sunshine” (?)
