Q/A: ‘Flight to Mars’ for a good cause with Pearl Jam’s Mike McCready

Pearl Jam guitarist Mike McCready and his UFO tribute band Flight to Mars will play in Portland on May 22nd at the Hawthorne Theater to benefit the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation of America’s ‘Camp Oasis’ for children.


Album: Foreigner stay true to the band’s heritage on ‘Alive & Rockin’

Foreigner’s new live album ‘Alive & Rockin’ was recorded on June 23rd of 2006 at one of Europe’s most prestigious hard rock and metal festivals Bang Your Head. That year also marked the 30th anniversary of the band’s formation. ‘Alive & Rockin’ is a great representation of what Foreigner is today a well-oiled machine that stays true to the band’s heritage.

Q/A with Kill Devil Hill drummer Vinny Appice

Longtime Dio, Black Sabbath, and Heaven & Hell drummer Vinny Appice joined forces with singer Dewey Bragg, guitarist Mark Zavon, and bassist Rex Brown in a new band called Kill Devil Hill. They play at Mt. Tabor Theater on April 26.


Lacuna Coil unleash their ‘Dark Legacy’ on the Aladdin Theater

Lacuna Coil, the gothic metal act from Milan, Italy, made a stop in Portland on April 15th at the Aladdin Theater on their 15th anniversary tour. Oregon Music News caught up with singer Cristina Scabbia for an interview.


Former ‘Rock Star’ contestant Dilana makes Portland appearance backed by local musicians

Dilana is probably better known for her participation on the CBS show Rock Star: Supernova which aired from July to September of 2006. While she didn’t win she did gain the respect of her peers on the show and she gained some new fans along the way.
Dilana continues to write music and performs regularly. She recently she signed on as lead singer for L.A. Guns. The gig was short lived and Dilana is back writing music for her upcoming album. She will be performing in Portland on April 20th she’ll be backed by a band that consists of various familiar faces from Portland area bands.

I don’t know how Iron Maiden guitarist Adrian Smith and singer Mikee Goodman crossed paths but the chemistry is there and this makes them a tandem to be reckoned with in Primal Rock Rebellion.
