Akron/Family To Play Free Show January 23rd @ Holocene

by Robert Ham on January 7, 2010

akron_family_topThis looks to be an INCREDIBLE show – not only do you get the vicious art rock of Wow & Flutter and AU’s experimental beauty, but capping off the bill at Holocene on January 23rd is Akron/Family, the riotously ebullient rock outfit from upstate New York. I caught their set at Bumbershoot this past year and it was a bona fide rave up of percussion, handclaps and joyous singing. It skirted that fine line between indie and jam band, but stayed the course with a lot of warped electronic sounds and moments of hard driving rock. This show is early, starting at 7pm, and will likely get packed out fast. Fair warning.
