You know what bugs the hell out of musicians? I mean other than getting paid. What bugs them is that a lot of media write about them when their album comes out, and then figure, “Well, we did them. We don’t have to worry about them for another year…or til they have another album out.”
Meanwhile, they have to keep on working, week after week, with nothing more written about them than a listing in somebody’s calendar. Speaking of which, they’ll be at Cascade Bar and Grill across the river in Vancouver on Saturday, January 30. The great ole roadhouse will be rocking.
Well, we’re here to tell you we’re not like that. That’s why this weekend, or any day of the week is a good day to see The Strangetones. I mean, look at them!
How is this band NOT fun?
They are designed for fun. Lots of bands think they are, but the Strangetones have fun and rock out at the same time. They’ve won a lot of Muddy Awards, as a group and individually. They won “Best Contemporary Act” for three years running and they’re in the Cascade Blues Association’s Hall of Fame.
You want surf? Rockabilly? Rock n Roll? Blues? Soul? And dancing girls? Mix them all up and shake them till they scream…That’s the Strangetones.
Think they’re just a NW band? Barcelona’s La Hora del BluesBlues wrote:
An impressive Strange Tones new albumn performed in the original way they have to combine blues with alternative rock, garage, R&B, or neo-rockabilly music. A compact well teamed band with a hard ‘punch’, so enjoyment is guaranteed for those of you who look for new forms and a different conception of black rooted music. A terrific record! GREAT!
