Todd Bishop
The “Notes from the Underground” series of free monthly concerts at the Mission Theater has developed into a very popular place to be. Begun in the Fall by Ben Darwish, the concerts have, at times, filled the room.
Tuesday, March 2nd’s show, 8:30pm, 21+, no cover will be the first double-bill in the series. It features Todd Bishop’s Pop Art 4, not long back from Europe. Their 2009 album 69 Année Erotique, their album of instrumental Jazz renditions of songs by Serge Gainsbourg who is best known for 1969’s Je t’aime… moi non plus, remembered for its female orgasm…uh…sound effect.
Whether you think Gainsbourg is sexy or creepy or both, Bishop has done very well by him.
Watch: Le Talkie Walkie
On the big screen, in between bands, will be a thirty minute film of the Julian “Cannonball” Adderley Sextet at SWR Studios in West Germany, from 1963.
