This Wednesday, March 10th, Igor and the Red Elvises are coming to Bend to entertain fans and fun-seekers at The Annex.
The Red Elvises made their first big splash as a trio of rock’n'roll refugees from the former Soviet Union. Beginning in 1995 as street musicians in sunny Santa Monica, the group was quickly court-ordered off the famous Third Street Promenade for the enormous crowds drawn to their infectious rockabilly surf sound and flamboyant showmanship.
Since being brought indoors, the band has toured virtually nonstop in venues across the globe. Now performing as Igor & The Red Elvises (Igor Yuzov being one of the founding members), they have metamorphosed into a full-blown international party band, losing two of the original members along the way while bringing in new artists from Puerto Rico to Israel to the United States.
The Beach Boys meets Elvis Presley meets a great sense of humor and a bit of Russian folk is the best way to describe Igor and the Red Elvises. They sprinkle in hints of ska, techno and doo-wop, while writing eccentric lyrics to make each song more entertaining than the last.
Concertgoers can expect the unexpected from an Igor & The Red Elvises show. Previous performances have included conga lines, animal print onesies, belly dancers, and the entire band playing on a single drum set simultaneously.
The upcoming performances have an extra element of excitement as Oleg Bernov, bassist and singer from the original line up, is literally leaving the circus in Thailand to be a part of this highly anticipated West Coast tour.
After a week touring Washington and British Columbia, Igor and the Red Elvises return to Oregon to play at Dante’s in Portland on the 17th and John Henry’s in Eugene on the 18th.
The Red Elvises proclaim to be “your favorite band” and work hard at each show to make a believer out of you too, so bring a little color into the middle of your week and join the fantastically flamboyant fun that is Igor and the Red Elvises!
