The Cascade Blues Association has announced the winner of the Journey to Memphis competition held earlier today at the Oregonian Stage of the Waterfront Blues Festival. She and the band will now have to opportunity to compete in February at the International Blues Challenge.
It is Lisa Mann, who got married on the Miller Stage at last year’s Festival.
Nice anniversary present.
CBA President Greg Johnson wouldn’t reveal the scores because the Assn. doesn’t like any potential embarrassment to folks who might get creamed. Good policy.
The contest was judged by long-time Blues Artist Hawkeye Herman, Blues Review writer Susan Lujan and Rene Malines former president of The Traveling Blues Society of Paris. That’s France.
We’re attempting to contact Mann at present. Stay tuned.

I prefer to let those who do not win all feel as if they came in second. All four acts performing in the finals were spectacular, but only one can take home the prize. We’ll be well represented in Memphis again this year, following two consecutive second place acts at the IBC with Karen Lovely and Ty Curtis Band. Congrats to Lisa & Her Really Good Band and all the 17 acts who participated in this year’s Journey to Memphis competition from the Cascade Bar & Grill in June to the finals at the Waterfront.
