Portland runaways Oh Darling

Oh Darling is not just a band name anymore.   This group of recent Portland-to-L.A. runaways are going for the triple dip with a November 17 release of an eponymous album on an eponymous label.

Husband and wife team Daven and J. Marie Hall are joined by front lady and keyboardist Jasmine Ash and drummer Jake Endicott on this  indie, pop-rock sophomore release.

This record definitely has the signature of  producer Gregg Williams.  Give a listen to “I Like You, Baby” to sample Williams’ expertise at grabbing that same rich yet poppy sound he has captured so well for acts such as  the Dandy Warhols.

Water seeks its own level, so in addition to attracting a brilliant record producer, the Oh Darling group has smarty-pants art friends too.

If Portland, Oregon is that town where many bands migrate to, one might wonder why these kids have gone the other way and run off to Los Angeles.  A peek at the Oh Darling website indicates exposure for the band on soundtracks for popular television shows such as One Tree Hill, Drop Dead Diva, and Royal Pains and commercials for outfits such as Volkswagen.  This success probably allows the Oh Darling stars a big town opportunity as well as  little bus money to get back to their hip hometown.
