A nasty cat fight broke out when Starfucker changed their moniker to the family friendly PYRAMIDDD this past October… stupidly opting not to adopt a slightly less (or more) offensive name like fans suggested: Famebanger, Celine Dion’s Shaggy Penis, Rad Stewart, or Cunt Eastwood.

Now in a three-way glam-bang, Keil Corcoran is shittin ‘n’ gettin’ with PYRAMIDDD, Guidance Counselor, and Fake Drugs!  FD have a demo out (“Hover” below) and are putting down tracks for a full length LP.

I got a hold of this scurvy man to talk shop about the villain from True Lies, Maine Coons, where you can catch a glimpse of local musicians’ penises, and fucking each other in a not so bizarre love triangle.

But most importantly, what the hell those three D’s PYRAMIDDD mean.  (It’s oh so complex.)

Who’s Fake Drugs? Where’d the name come from?

Fake Drugs is Keil Corcoran, Ian Anderson, and Shawn Glassford. I lifted the name from a Spencer Kingman song called “Double Trouble.” Spencer lifted the term from a man named Jesse Jackson who was one of the first members of Fake Drugs.

When can I buy some Fake Drugs?

Around 2 AM in Camden. He’s a sketchy Middle Eastern dude. Ask Shawn.

What kind of love triangle is developing here between PYRAMIDDD, Guidance Counselor, and Fake Drugs?

I met Ian (Guidance Counselor) and the Pyramiddd/Starfucker boys when I was playing with a band called Flaspar. The three of our bands did a short Washington tour together and that’s how I met all of them. Now I’m in both of their bands but not Flaspar. I usually play drums so Fake Drugs is an excuse for me to escape my cage and act the fool. Shawn as you know is in Pyramiddd. We’re also all fucking each other.

Compare and contrast each band’s sound in one sentence or less.  Discuss amongst yourselves.

Pyramiddd sounds like a young doe frolicking through the forest, Guidance Counselor sounds like an elk being thrown from an exploding helicopter, Fake Drugs sounds like a hot dad working out.

I don’t know, dirt? We’re filthy boys. Except Ryan. He flosses after every meal and is as fresh as a mountain spring. I don’t think I followed the analogy format very well. I’ve always been a bit of a scholastic underachiever.

On to the math portion, let’s try some equations.  Fake Drugs + a Maine Coon = ?

I’m going to go with happiness. I love cats. Fuck you dog people!!!

PYRAMIDDD just got back from Europe, your first trip as a band, right?  How was it?

It was amazing. We stayed with a man named Art Malik who played the main villain in the Arnold Schwarzenegger movie True Lies. Our sound guy spilled a beer on my laptop. A giant dog pissed in Josh’s room.

What was your favorite stop?

AMSTERDAM. As far as show and city. I ate some tyte bangers and mash at some weird cart across from Dingwall’s. The best thing was being in Europe. The vibe is sensational.

What’s been the fan reaction to the name change?

Initially there were mad haterz. Slowly they seem to be accepting it. I have a feeling when the new LP is out the kids will quit bitching. All the ‘tweens think it’s some indication that we’re going in some new direction musically or some shit. Or they just like to complain.

Seriously though, what’s with the three D’s?

D stands for Dicks. We wanted to emphasize how much we like them. Or how well endowed Shawn is. He’s hung like a steed. We also have a record label called DDD (pronounced 3D). The first Fake Drugs record will probably come out on that.

What’s happening with PYRAMIDDD right now?  What’s in store for the future?

We’re writing and recording the next full length right now. Next year we will be doing SXSW, touring Europe extensively, and going to Australia and Japan.

When can we expect some more love for Portland?

Guidance Counselor plays Portland often. Pyramiddd will be playing some super top-secret shows at little tiny venues next year when all of our new shit is done.

Where can we see Fake Drugs?

December 19th at Rotture with Dat’r and again on January 3rd for Superfresh at Rotture! And probably some house parties in the near future. And in your dreamz.

How much material do you have for your live sets?  What can we expect?

We’re playing about 7 songs right now live. Some of it is hecka housey, some of it’s a little more paunk. We have about 20 more songs on deck.

Ian and I will be doing an art exhibit called 69 Dicks, showcasing hi-quality photographs of local musicians’ peni. Keep on the lookout for that. THANKS DAD!
